Launceston Archer competes in Masters Games

On Saturday 30/10/2003 Abdul Safaei went to Canberra for the Masters Games on his way to Olympic Gold for Archery.

Abdul took up archery earlier this year as a way of focused recreation.

Within three months he purchased his own professional bow and is now achieving world class scores.

Abdul is an Hazara Afghan refugee who has been given temporary protection in Australia. He has been living and working in Tasmania for the past 2-3 years.

If you would like to send a supporting comment as a fellow Launcestonian or as a member of Tasmanian's For Refugees I will pass it on to him.

Congratulations Abdul,

on your success to date in your Archery.

Best wishes for the Olympic Trials.

I will be awaiting news of your progress with excited anticipation,as I am sure all your friends back in Launceston will be,especially the people in Tasmanians for Refugees - Launceston who daily provide support to the Afghan Community of Launceston.
