For the first time a bid is being made for
the Winter Olympics by a Southern Hemisphere
country.

A New Zealand group is making a bid for the 2010
Games which if successful would be staged in August
instead of February.

Certain for success at Utah will be
Zali Steggall from Sydney,Australia.

Zali achieved fame for winning
bronze in the 1998 slalom at the
Nagano Winter Olympics.

Zali went on to become the 1999
World Slalom Champion.

Zali's bronze at Nagano was
Australia's first ever Olympic
alpine skiing medal.

Zali's brother Zeke is also
a fine winter sports competitor.

Zali married Olympic Rower
David Cameron in 1999.

Both Zali and Zeke got their
love of ski racing while as children
in France.Zali won her first ski race
at the age of 5 and moved to Australia
at the age of 15 in 1989.

If attending any of the events on the slopes
Do not forget your gloves,a warm hat and
sunglasses because:

Ultra violet rays are more intense at higher altitudes,
even on cloudy days.

Most of our body heat escapes from our heads.

High altitude climbers often get black frost bitten
fingers.
