Universal Children’s Day is celebrated around the world. In 1954, the United Nations and UNICEF established this day as an opportunity for us to give special attention to the children of the world. The idea was to observe a day of worldwide fraternity and understanding between children, and of activity promoting the welfare of the world’s children. In Australia it is always the fourth Wednesday in October. This year it is 24 October 2001. Each Australian can answer that call and ‘Say Yes for Children’ by voting in an online ballot for children’s rights. "We cannot waste our precious children. Not another one, not another day."
