LAUNCESTON VETERANS

Those that have defended our country in war or served in peacetime must be allowed a dignified retirement.

Nor shall we forget the dependants of service personnel.

TPI RALLY IN CANBERRA
starts Monday 17 September 2001

The Totally & Permanently Incapacitated (TPI) ex-service people
are still fighting, for fairness of value of TPI payments.

The TPI payment from 1917 to 1972 averaged about 95% of the basic wage/adult weekly earnings. It has eroded in value - it is now only about 46% of Male
Total Average Weekly Earnings (MTAWE).
28 Mar 01 (ABS). Ave Award Wage = $610 pw. Ave Collective Bargain Wage = $711 pw. Ave Workplace Agreement Wage = $895 pw.
TPI Payment = $354.50 pw.
Don't be confused by these 'standards': the index used by the government, provided by the Bureau of Statistics, for the calculations of the Old Age Pension
and the Service Pension etc, is Male Total Average Weekly Earnings (MTAWE). This is the community standard and at present the TPI compensation payment
is 46% of MTAWE.
"THE PRICE OF LIBERTY IS 46% OF THE AVERAGE WAGE"
