The Tasmanian Greens 30th birthday.
At a public meeting in the Hobart Town Hall
on March 23 1972 the United Tasmania Group
first began.

The late Richard Jones was a founding member
of the UTG which later evolved into the TAS GREENS.

The UTG was the first Green Political Party in the world
They stood candidates in the 1972 election to draw attention to the flooding of Lake Pedder.

It is also interesting to note that when Bob Brown first stood for the Senate he gained only 112 votes.
