One of Marissa's goals is to grow her hair long enough to be cut  and made into a wig for a kid with cancer that has lost their hair because of their medicine.

Marissa told Model Power that she has been blessed with strong, thick hair.

"As a model, I know the importance that other people often put in looks.

Teenagers are especially sensitive about their looks, for this reason I would like to make a personal donation to helping someone feel good about theirself.

I believe that feeling good about how you look can help with your treatment. "

Marissa became interested in the cause of cancer research, through the experiences of her Great Aunt Toni ,who survived breast cancer twice.

Marissa is thankful that modern medicine was able to give her and her family several years with this wonderful woman before she was finally taken from them in a car accident.

Locks of Love is an organization that donates quality hairpieces to children who have lost their hair due to cancer, burns, alopecia or medical treatments. The wigs are provided to financially disadvantaged children that deserve a chance to grow up looking like their peers.
Each wig is handmade from human hair and individually made for the recipient. The child can select the hair color and style that is most natural to their appearance. Hairpieces can be worn swimming and to the shower. The piece is vacuum sealed to the child's head and will not move.
