Launceston has a fortnightly householder collection of :newspapers :magazines :junk mail :cardboard :office paper for recycling into new grades of paper. The RECYCLING ACTION GROUP has been established to campaign for full kerbside recycling of food and beverage containers, which include glass,plastic, aluminium and steel,see elsewhere on the site for detailed information on particular types of plastic and glass which are able to be recycled - not all glass and plastic is readily able to be recycled, although the containers may consist of "recycled" material. The group meets regularly to discuss strategies and latest developments. A petition is circulating widely in the Launceston community,when 1000 electors have signed it will be presented to the launceston City Council who will then be obliged to call a public meeting to discuss the issue.
