Hundreds of people,
perhaps more than a thousand
were killed as the army used tanks
and automatic gunfire to
crush student led demonstrations
for democracy in the city's main square.
Following the action a further 30,000
people were arrested and detained for
being what authorities labelled
"counter revolutionaries" This site aims to keep alive the
memories of Tiananmen in the hope
that such an atrocity will
never happen again.
